Hello and thank you for visiting Alice B.B. Alice Books. We hope you will stay a while.

Alice B.B. Alice Books is a label dedicated to the two women who set me out on my adventure in the world of story telling and eventually writing. My Grandmother Alice Barbara and my Mother Barbara Alice. My Grandmother told my brother and I bedtime stories, some of things that happened when she was a kid to made up things. My Mother reading me books like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Charlie and the Glass Elevator, to making up adventures about Shoopie the Shoeman and FooFeffie Mcdew. (I have no idea how she spelled it.)

Later when I was older and had my little brother occasionally sharing my bedroom who had a hard time sleeping, The next generation of story tellers was born. I had the task of making up stories to get him to fall asleep (or I would have to go to jail for murder) I would make up adventures of Mr. Bill based on Mr. Bill on Saturday Night Live (S.N.L.) yes I had to do the voice. (Ohhh Noooooo) I would tell the stories until I realized he was sleeping then I would go to sleep. The next evening it would repeat but I would ask him what he remembered last and then I would continue from there.(sometimes, I may have gone a half hour before realizing he was asleep and would make up something new since I didn’t know exactly what I said the night before.) As time went on, I would make up “choose your own adventure stories” during sleep overs with friends, and while in school and during Church sermons I would write about adventures of an Army club that we had when we were pre-teens- teens. As well as spin offs of Miami Vice, Terminator, Star Wars, and others.

The story telling finally “paid off” when our children came. Like his father, my son Eli did not fall asleep easily many times it would be me singing him to sleep or my Father in Law resting him on the “shelf” aka his belly. But when he was a little older the books came out to get him to go to sleep. His younger brother Jonah you would say go to sleep and he would say ok and fall asleep. I would read books like ” If You give a Mouse A Cookie…” or one on cars and trucks or “Go Dogs Go” These books were all great till the 20th time, 30th time, etc. I would sit on their beds looking up at the ceiling reciting the book while turning pages till one day I said enough. I decided to make up a story. “The Adventures of Eli the Monkey.” my son loved the story and I would only tell him one a night if he was good. the younger son caught on and wanted me to tell him the stories too. So “The Adventures of Tiger and Monkey” were born. All but the first story started out “Once upon a time in a jungle far, far away there lived a Monkey named Eli and a Tiger named Jonah…”

Friends and family heard about the stories and said I needed to publish them so my goal is to get a collection of the Tiger Monkey books published as well as some other projects.
